Shipbuilders of Veraval – India 10|2010
All along the coastlines of India are shipyards where fishing vessels are built unter the most basic conditions for local use. Equipped solely with the simple tools like bandsaws, chainsaws, a host of hand tools like hammers and axes, and big iron nails, crews of a few men hammer and saw and stitch together twenty to thirty meters long seagoing fishing vessels with their bare hands. This yard is located in the commercial area surrounding the fishery harbor of Veraval.
